Natural hematite does exhibit weak magnetism, but strong magnetism in the stone usually results from a complex process of heating and cooling while attached to a powerful magnet. These are man altered hematite that are magnetic.  They are fun to put together and make a vibrating sound when they are drawn together.  Great for those that like to figit!  Kids of all ages like to play with them.
