A member of the quartz family, amethyst is characterized by its unmistakable and rich violet color. The lighter amethyst crystals – those that are lavender, lilac, and slightly grayish in color – are referred to as pink amethyst. There is only 1 mine that produces pink amethyst.  Amethyst is good for self-control, wisdom, and discernment.
