Black Jade is of the Nephrite or Jadeite variety, with inclusions of graphite or iron oxide.
Nephrite is a calcium magnesium silicate, while Jadeite is a sodium aluminum silicate.
Even though they both have distinctly different compositions, crystal structures, densities, and hardness, they’re both tough and similar in appearance.  Black Jade is also an excellent aid when you need to start looking inward.
